Science Materials Request
Shortly, students will begin their next two Science Units: Testing Materials and Designs in conjunction with Building With A Variety Of Materials. For the months of February, March, and April students will participate in collaborative, hands-on Science activities that will involve designing and building various structures. In order to make these activities a success I am hoping that parents will be able to donate the following items:
* Cardboard
* Styrofoam
* Cardboard and plastic tubes of various sizes
* Jars and Lids
* String, yarn, twine, ribbon, pipe cleaners
* Buttons
* Thread spools
* Fabric
* Plastic bags, zip locks
* Dowels
* Plastic containers
* Marbles
* Old CD’s
* Boxes of various sizes from food items – crackers, cereal, oatmeal, cookies, etc…
This list is not exhaustive, so please feel free to send in any other materials you think may be useful in building. Please note, that items donated will be used by all students, and will not be returned at the end of these units of study.
Thank-you in advance!
Today we:
- Reviewed themes in stories, and started learning about settings. We discussed how setting is the when and where of a story, and how there can be many different ways to describe the setting by using clues in the story.
- Had Music with Mrs. Dennill
- Continued our class read aloud “I Want to go Home” by Gordon Korman
- Caught up on unfinished letters to our penpals and our parents, as well as our Peru postcards
- Went to an assembly for Pink Shirt Day, where we learned about bullying and the impact it can have on us
- Went outside and had some time to play in the snow
- Learned about the climate in Tunisia
Student Quotes:
“I liked writing my favourite book on the Readmoji chart.”
