Science Materials Request
Shortly, students will begin their next two Science Units: Testing Materials and Designs in conjunction with Building With A Variety Of Materials. For the months of February, March, and April students will participate in collaborative, hands-on Science activities that will involve designing and building various structures. In order to make these activities a success I am hoping that parents will be able to donate the following items:

- Had Music.
- Practiced our multiplication skills by working on our Multiplication Mystery Picture Colouring page.
- Read Tyrannosaurus Math during snack and story.
- Did Go Noodle for Gym, as the Gym was in use.
- Practiced our Typing skills, as well as our Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction skills using Dance Mat Typing, Free Typing Games, Math Playground, and Under The Sea Math.

Your student should be able to:
- Explain and demonstrate at least one personal strategy to complete multiplication facts. For example multiplying anything by two is that number doubled, using the “finger trick” to complete 9 times tables, etc...
- Skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to (another strategy to help in completing multiplication questions if necessary)
- Explain the difference between adding a list and repeated addition.
- Explain how repeated addition is related to multiplication.
- Explain what an array is.
- Draw a multiplication sentence using an array.
- Have a discussion about Peru (including but not limited to): the climate, landforms (mountains, rainforest, and coast), art forms, clothing, language, schools, homes, food, festivals, games, traditions, etc…
- Give a few facts about First Nations culture (including but not limited to): circle sharing (everyone has an equal voice), 4 sacred plants (tobacco, ceder, sweet grass, and sage), the Eagle symbolizes love, why we give Elders and the land offerings, why Mother Earth and water are important, what a residential school is, the medicine wheel, etc…
- Discuss that there are different types of poetry, as well as give some information about the following types: Diamonte (diamond shape), Autobiographical (about yourself), Haiku (Japanese poetry about nature and feelings), Shape Poem, and Acrostic.
