Purple May Calendar going home with oldest/only.
Today We:
- Had silent reading time.
- Practiced our French skills by playing Simone Dit. We continue to learn numbers 1-100, body parts, colours, clothing, and school supplies.
- Exchanged our books during library.
- Read our class novel The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan.
- Worked on the good copies of our First Nations storyboards.
- Began our new topic in Math – Decimals and Fractions. Students were introduced to the tenths and hundredths place value positions. We discussed the following: decimals and fractions are used when we have pieces of something, tenths is when an object is broken up into 10 equal pieces, hundredths is when an object is broken up into 100 equal pieces. We worked through various problems together as a class converting pictures to decimals and equivalent fractions. For example 0.3 is the same as 3/10, 0.6 is the same as 6/10, 0.34 is the same as 34/100, and 0.71 is the same as 71/100. We also touched on pictures and decimals that represent wholes. For example 21/10 is the same as 2.1, 4.3 is the same as 4.3.
- Continued practicing our understanding of decimals and fractions by playing online games provided by Ms. England.
- Assisted our Grade 1 buddies in the Idea Lab. We helped them create buildings for their city.
- Played Yoshi outside for Gym.
