Today We:
- Had Music.
- Finished our pen pal letters, and our Shirley Hill reflection letters.
- Had circle where we shared our answers to the question “What are stories?”
- Read our class read aloud “I Want to Go Home,” by Gordon Korman.
- Got together with Ms. Parent’s class to complete the paper heart build challenge. Using strips of pre-cut paper students were expected to make paper hearts, and were given two challenges: 1. build a self-standing structure using their hearts 2. Make the heart structure as tall as possible, while still self-standing.
- Practiced our measuring skills during Quick Math using rulers by measuring the height of our paper heart structures in partners.
- Practiced throwing/sliding curling rocks in groups of 4 in Gym.
- Began our final project for our Peru unit; students are to design and fill out a postcard about Peru. We looked at example postcards, and discussed what makes a good postcard: one image, many images, titles, etc. We also discussed the importance of what to write on a postcard, as there is limited space. Students began brainstorming 5 facts that they think were the most important things they learned about while studying Peru.
- Reviewed the book “Measuring Penny” and all the different ways Penny measured her dog. Students practiced their measuring skills by measuring the height and width of stuffed animals using rulers.
- Watched a few video clips about Tunisia.
