Grey Next Year Planning Form going home with oldest/only.
Library Thursday.
Today We:
- Practiced our French skills. We wrote the date in French, and practiced our days of the week, months of the year, and our numbers from 1 – 100.
- Had Music.
- Read our class novel “Hoot” by Carl Hiaasen.
- Enjoyed the weather outside for Gym.
- Finished our 6th Author Study books.
- Practiced one of our songs for the Grade 4 Celebration Of Learning in February.
- Did a few rounds of GoNoodle.
- Continued discussing Alberta’s fossil heritage. We shared our opinions on who we think should own fossils, museums, or individuals; students had many different opinions. We watched two short video clips and learned that the first nations people called dinosaur bones “Grandfather of the Buffalo,” and that Joseph Tyrell found the first dinosaur fossils in Alberta near Drumheller in 1884. We will continue to discuss the rules, regulations, and important events in our fossil heritage this week.
- Went to the Idea Lab to continue working on our prototypes. Our goal is to solve a problem for a friend. Some of us are making noise cancelling headphones, cleaning robots, vision goggles, and snow devices, etc…
- Read the story Papa’s Mechanical Fish. We discussed the design process: coming up with an idea, sketching, building a prototype, testing, and repeating the process. We also reviewed the fact that designing isn’t easy, things aren’t usually perfect on our first attempts, and that we need to keep trying.
