Today We:
- Practiced our French skills using Duolingo and Mrs. Palleson’s website.
- Played bench-ball during Gym.
- Read our class novel “The Incredible Journey” by Sheila Burnford.
- Participated in self-directed Literacy Stations. Students worked on one of five stations: Poetry Pause, Current Events, Buddy Reading, Word Work, Ipad, and Listening Station. Some students have taken work home to complete.
- Worked on our Secret of Nimh Venn diagrams comparing similarities and differences between the book and the movie. We will be using this venn diagram to create a persuasive piece of writing encouraging people to either watch the movie or read the book.
- Previewed the Book Fair and made Wish Lists.
- Started recording our garbage total for Wasteless Thursdays.
- Completed our graphs about favourite ice cream with our partners. We will be reviewing these graphs on Monday.
Student Quotes:
“I liked playing Bench Ball in Gym.”
“I liked library because we got to make wish lists.”
“I liked French because we got to go on Duolingo.”
“I was surprised that we only had 25 pieces of garbage thrown away at lunch time today. I thought it would be more.”
Question: If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
Your student should be able to:
- Start sentences with a capital, and end them with appropriate punctuation such as a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.
- Go back and edit their work for missing/misplaced capitals and periods, as well as basic sight words. They do not need to find and fix everything, but be able to point out a few places that need editing.
- Explain how to use a website to find information on a topic (reading words, looking at pictures, listening to dialogue) and how they record their work
- Talk about important parts of a graph, for example: title, labels, scale, colour, straight/even bars, etc….
