Parent-Teacher Conferences – Conferences are Thursday October 22 from 4 pm – 8 pm, and Friday Morning from 8am – 1pm. Please be sure to book your conference time using the on-line booking link located on the Prince of Wales main page.
Book Fair Viewings - Our book fair viewing will be next Thursday during our regular library time. Book Fair sales will occur during parent/teacher conferences on Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Today We:
- Practiced the date in French.
- Had Gym with Mrs. Bezugley, Ms. Manser, and our Grade 5 buddy class.
- Had Music.
- Read our class novel “The Incredible Journey” by Sheila Burnford.
- Finished our second UNICEF card.
- Had finish up time to work on our sketchbook covers, landfill pages, and Terry Fox pages.
Question: What does the word "precise" mean?
Your student should be able to:
- Start sentences with a capital, and end them with appropriate punctuation such as a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.
- Explain the who, what, when, where, and why are in an article of their choosing.
- Point out the title and author of written material such as books, poems, and newspaper articles.
- Explain how to write a Sandwich Paragraph (a topic sentence, 3 – 5 detailed sentences, and a concluding sentence)
- Go back and edit their work for missing/misplaced capitals and periods, as well as basic sight words. They do not need to find and fix everything, but be able to point out a few places that need editing.
- Give examples of where patterns can be found in the world. For example buildings, food, clothes, words, animals, etc…
- Explain the difference between an increasing and a decreasing pattern.
- Explain what it means to sort objects. For example how would you sort various balls, or shapes; size, colour, texture, etc…
- State that Alberta has 6 geographic regions (they do not need to be able to list what they are at this time)
- Give at least 4 facts about the Grassland Region. For example: good soil for crops, long grass, buffalo, hot summers, etc…
- Be able to explain in their own words the following vocabulary: climate, resources, landforms, vegetation, and soil.
- Explain how to use a website to find information on a topic (reading words, looking at pictures, listening to dialogue) and how they record their work
- Discuss how a Sanitary Landfill is built; large hole is dug, plastic liners, clay, levels of soil and garbage to reduce smell and aid in decomposition, leachate and methane pipes.
- Explain what a decomposer is, what they do, and why they are important.
- Give at least 2 examples of decomposers.

- I can give examples of how to solve problems in the classroom independently. For example what do I do if I can’t find my pencil, what do I do if I can’t spell a word, what can I do if someone is distracting me, etc…
