Today We:
- Had Music.
- Wrote another detailed beginning as a class. Students please tell you parents what our group beginning was about.
- Worked on our persuasive posters for either Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, or The Secret of Nimh.
- Continued reading our class read aloud The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan.
- Walked to the ridge for our final visit with Ms. Shirley. Students please tell your parents what we discussed, learned, and did with Ms. Shirley today.
- We continued talking about time. We reviewed the 2 types of clocks, how many days in a week, weeks, in a month, months in a year, seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour, and hours in a day. We watched a few short videos about time and calendars, and discussed what activities we might measure in minutes and hours.
- Discussed the difference between a complete metamorphosis and an incomplete metamorphosis. Metamorphosis mean change. A complete metamorphosis means that the start of the life cycle looks completely different from the end. For example a butterfly: egg, larva, pupa, butterfly. An incomplete metamorphosis means the beginning and end do not look much different. For example humans, dogs, cats, elephants all start as smaller versions of the adult (adults may have more hair, be taller, or stronger)
- Finished recording the last 3 animal classifications in our sketchbooks: reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Students please tell your parents one fact that helps classify a bird, a reptile, and an amphibian.
- Watched a time-lapse video of the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly, which is similar to the Paintedlady Butterflies we are raising at school.
- Went outside at the end of the day for Gym.
